Background: The medial ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) of the elbow joint is the primary restraint to valgus stress during the throwing motion. The flexor pronator muscles (FPMs) also stabilize the elbow joint against valgus forces; however, assessment of FPM stiffness in baseball players has been limited.

Purpose: To use ultrasound shear wave elastography (USWE) to evaluate the change in tissue elasticity of the FPMs due to pitching.

Article Synopsis
  • A study explored the use of high-dose-rate interstitial brachytherapy (HDR-ISBT) as palliative treatment for an 81-year-old male with base of tongue cancer, following prior radiation and treatment.
  • The patient underwent a lower-dose external beam radiotherapy (ERT) followed by a single-fraction HDR-ISBT booster, with precautions taken to minimize infection and bleeding.
  • Post-treatment results showed significant tumor reduction, pain relief, and no complications after nearly three years, indicating HDR-ISBT could be an effective palliative care option for patients in similar situations.

Introduction: The trabecular bone score (TBS) has emerged as a convenient measure for assessing the microstructure of trabecular bone in the second through fourth lumbar vertebrae (L2-4) and can be conducted concurrently with bone mineral density (BMD) assessment. This study was performed to evaluate changes in BMD and the TBS during ADT for prostate cancer.

Materials And Methods: Consecutive patients who had prostate cancer without bone metastases at Kobe University Hospital were studied from March 2020 to December 2021.

Background: Multidrug chemotherapy for Ewing sarcoma can lead to severe myelosuppression. We proposed two clinical questions (CQ): CQ #1, "Does primary prophylaxis with G-CSF benefit chemotherapy for Ewing sarcoma?" and CQ #2, "Does G-CSF-based intensified chemotherapy improve Ewing sarcoma treatment outcomes?".

Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Ichushi web databases, including English and Japanese articles published from 1990 to 2019.
