Background: Total glossectomy is proven to be a superior treatment option for advanced tongue cancer. Despite its efficacy, the procedure is associated with profound morbidity, notably impacting Speech, swallowing, and overall quality of life. Limited therapeutic benefits and the potential for considerable morbidity render total glossectomy a subject of controversy.

Silver shelled gold nanorods for sensitive detection of cholesterol and triglycerides.

We report the synthesis of bimetallic plasmonic nanostructure of silver shelled gold nanorods (Ag-Au NRs), subsequently employed for the selective detection of cholesterol (Cho) and triglycerides (TGl) utilizing Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS). In this direction, the gold nanorods (Au NRs) were synthesized via seed mediated growth method followed by forming a silver shell with reduction of AgNO onto Au NRs. Ag-Au NRs showed significantly augmented SERS property owing to hybridization of Localized Surface Plasmon Resonances (LSPR) of silver and gold.

Introduction: Myocardial infarction (MI) is a significant contributor to morbidity and mortality worldwide. Many individuals who survive the acute event continue to experience heart failure (HF), with inflammatory and healing processes post-MI playing a pivotal role. Polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) and monocytes infiltrate the infarcted area, where PMN release high amounts of the heme enzyme myeloperoxidase (MPO).

Remodeling of the endothelial cell transcriptional program via paracrine and DNA-binding activities of MPO.

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an enzyme that functions in host defense. MPO is released into the vascular lumen by neutrophils during inflammation and may adhere and subsequently penetrate endothelial cells (ECs) coating vascular walls. We show that MPO enters the nucleus of ECs and binds chromatin independently of its enzymatic activity.
