Article Synopsis
  • The free complement (FC) theory was used to solve the scaled Schrödinger equation (SSE) for the lithium atom, allowing for accurate calculation of wave functions, energies, and properties of its ground and excited states.
  • The methodology addresses issues of divergence found in traditional variational methods by using a specific scaling function, demonstrating the effectiveness of FC theory for a three-electron system.
  • Results showed high agreement with experimental and previously reported theoretical values, confirming the ability of the exact theory to provide precise solutions.

Article Synopsis
  • - A new anticancer nanodrug has been created that is effective in fighting cancer with minimal side effects, avoiding the need for common additives or nanocarriers.
  • - The nanodrug consists of nano-prodrugs made from homodimeric prodrugs of SN-38, which are stable but release the active drug specifically in cancer cells when a certain bond is broken by glutathione.
  • - In tests, the nano-prodrugs showed far superior tumor-fighting capabilities compared to irinotecan, primarily due to better accumulation in tumors and a targeted drug release mechanism.

In a previous paper [. 030403.], one of the authors introduced the scaled Schrödinger equation (SSE), ( - )ψ = 0 for atoms and molecules, where the scaling function is the positive function of the electron-nuclear (e-n) and electron-electron (e-e) distances.

Objectives: After staged reconstruction for hypoplastic left heart syndrome, the neoaortic root tends to dilate, and the incidence of significant neoaortic valve insufficiency increases with time. This study aimed to evaluate the mid-term outcomes of the neoaortic root geometries and valve function after chimney reconstruction in the Norwood procedure.

Methods: Between 2013 and 2021, 20 consecutive patients who underwent chimney reconstruction during the Norwood procedure for hypoplastic left heart syndrome and its variants in our institution were enrolled.

The utilization of machine learning has a potential to improve the environment of the development of antimicrobial agents. For practical use of machine learning, it is important that the conversion of molecules information to an appropriate descriptor because too informative descriptor requires enormous computation time and experiments for gathering data, whereas a less informative descriptor has problems in validity. In this study, we utilized a descriptor only focused on substituent.
