Aims: While the prevalence of transthyretin-derived amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) is on the rise, detailed understanding of its morphological and functional characteristics within the left ventricle (LV) across heart failure (HF) remains limited.

Methods And Results: Utilizing two-dimensional (2D) speckle-tracking echocardiography, we assessed longitudinal strain (LS) in 63 histology-confirmed ATTR-CM patients. Additionally, cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images measured native T1 and extracellular volume (ECV), compared with LS across 18 LV segments.

Article Synopsis
  • Telemedicine in Japan has grown due to COVID-19 deregulation, but its current use is mainly by general practitioners and is still unclear.
  • This study examines telemedicine's role in sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) for allergies, comparing patients who used a mix of telemedicine and in-person visits to those who only had in-person visits.
  • Results showed no significant differences in dropout rates, side effects, or treatment effectiveness, although telemedicine patients had higher copayment costs; further research is needed to clarify telemedicine's status in Japanese healthcare.

Background: Gastric adenocarcinoma with enteroblastic differentiation (GACED), a rare subtype of gastric cancer, is associated with a more aggressive behavior than conventional gastric adenocarcinomas. We report a rare case of stage IV GACED treated with D2 gastrectomy and postoperative chemotherapy.

Case Presentation: A 39-year-old woman with acute upper abdominal pain immediately underwent surgery for gastric perforation.

Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) has become an important target in the prevention and treatment of diabetes. Although many DPP-IV inhibitory peptides have been identified by a general approach involving the repeated fractionation of food protein hydrolysates, the obtained results have been dependent on the content of each peptide and fractionation conditions. In the present study, a peptide array that provides comprehensive assays of peptide sequences was used to identify novel DPP-IV inhibitory peptides derived from bovine milk proteins; these peptides were then compared with those identified using the general approach.

Introduction And Importance: We present a relatively rare case of intrathoracic chronic expanding hematoma (CEH) after thoracic surgery for lung cancer. CEH is often difficult to distinguish from malignant tumors because of its large size and slow progressive enlargement. In this report, we describe the radiological features of CEH in detail.
