Signaling-specific inhibition of the CB receptor for cannabis use disorder: phase 1 and phase 2a randomized trials.

Cannabis use disorder (CUD) is widespread, and there is no pharmacotherapy to facilitate its treatment. AEF0117, the first of a new pharmacological class, is a signaling-specific inhibitor of the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB-SSi). AEF0117 selectively inhibits a subset of intracellular effects resulting from Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) binding without modifying behavior per se.

Sleep maintenance difficulties in insomnia are associated with increased incidence of hypertension.

Study Objectives: We examined the relative contributions of sleep onset and sleep maintenance difficulties in insomnia as predictors of incidence and development of hypertension.

Design: This study is cross-sectional and longitudinal.

Participants: There were 967 adults with Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition-based current insomnia.

Necrotic enteritis due to simultaneous infection with Isospora suis and clostridia in newborn piglets and its prevention by early treatment with toltrazuril.

In this study, 51 piglets originating from five different sows were included in the investigations. The animal source of all sows had a history of Clostridium perfringens type A (β2) infection. The piglets of three sows (n = 31) were experimentally infected with Isospora suis within the first 4 h after birth and were randomly assigned to the treatment group or the sham-dosing group.

Efficacy of imidacloprid 10%/moxidectin 1% (Advocate/Advantage Multi) against fleas (Ctenocephalides felis felis) on ferrets (Mustela putorius furo).

Ferrets (Mustela putorius furo) are becoming increasingly popular as pets and are kept in households with other pet animals such as dogs and cats, from which they may catch flea infestations with the predominant flea species Ctenocephalides felis. In this study, the efficacy of imidacloprid/moxidectin spot-on (Advocate/Advantage Multi) was investigated in the therapy and prevention of flea infestation in ferrets. Sixteen adult ferrets of varying weights and ages and of both sexes were included.
