Massive postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is the most common cause of maternal death worldwide. A massive transfusion protocol (MTP) may be used to provide significant benefits in the management of PPH; however, only a limited number of hospitals use MTP protocol to manage massive obstetric hemorrhages, especially in Japan. This study aimed to assess the clinical outcomes in patients in whom MTP was activated in our hospital.

Aims: Cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide; therefore, effective measures for cancer prevention and treatment are in constant demand. The extracts of Inonotus obliquus (Chaga mushroom) demonstrate potent anti-tumor activities and have been used to treat cancer in several countries; however, the actual effect and underlying mechanisms are still unclear. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the effects of continuous intake of aqueous extract from I.

The pro-arrhythmic triggers in Brugada and early repolarization syndromes (BrS, ERS) have not been analyzed systematically except for case reports. We clinically investigated the circumstances which precede/predispose to arrhythmic events in these syndromes during long-term follow-up. A detailed history from the patients/witnesses was taken to investigate the antecedent events in the last few hours that preceded syncope/ventricular fibrillation (VF); medical records, ECG and blood test from the emergency room (ER) were reviewed.

While the occurrence of desulfurization of phosphorothioate oligonucleotides in solution is well established, this study represents the first attempt to investigate the basis of the unexpected desulfurization via the net sulfur-by-oxygen (S-O) replacement during negative electrospray ionization (ESI). The current work, facilitated by quantitative mass deconvolution, demonstrates that considerable desulfurization can take place even under common negative ESI operating conditions. The extent of desulfurization is dependent on the molar phosphorothioate oligonucleotide-to-hydroxyl radical ratio, which is consistent with the corona discharge-induced origin of the hydroxyl radical leading to the S-O replacement.

Ru/C catalysts are active for the conversion of cellulose using 2-propanol or H(2) of 0.8 MPa as sources of hydrogen, whereas the Ru/Al(2)O(3) catalyst is inactive in both reactions, indicating that the Ru/C catalysts are remarkably effective for the cellulose conversion.
