Gene Fusion Detection in Long-Read Transcriptome Datasets from Multiple Cancer Cell Lines.

Background: Fusion genes are important biomarkers in cancer research because their expression can produce abnormal proteins with oncogenic properties. Long-read RNA sequencing (long-read RNA-seq), which can sequence full-length mRNA transcripts, facilitates the detection of such fusion genes. Several tools have been proposed for detecting fusion genes in long-read RNA-seq datasets derived from cancer cells.

Feasibility of non-anesthesiologist-administered sedation with dexmedetomidine and midazolam during endoscopic submucosal dissection of upper gastrointestinal tumors.

Objectives: The efficacy and safety of a sedation regimen combining dexmedetomidine and midazolam during endoscopic submucosal dissection for upper gastrointestinal tumors remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of this sedation regimen, where non-anesthesiologists performed sedation.

Methods: Sixty-eight patients who underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection for upper gastrointestinal tumors, sedated by non-anesthesiologists, were retrospectively evaluated.

Association between the HAL score and the development of progressive pulmonary fibrosis in idiopathic interstitial pneumonia: A prospective observational study.

Background: Progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) is a critical concern in interstitial lung disease (ILD) management. The HAL score, which incorporates honeycombing (H), age >75 years (A), and serum lactate dehydrogenase >222 U/L (L), can predict acute exacerbations in patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia (IIP). This study aims to evaluate the predictive utility of the HAL score for PPF development.

Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Finerenone for Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes from Japanese Payer Perspective.

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a major cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Japan, and there is an increasing treatment need for first- and second-line care in these patients. The addition of finerenone to current treatment modalities lowers the risk of CKD progression and cardiovascular events in patients with CKD and T2D from the Japanese payer perspective. This study investigated the cost-effectiveness analysis of adding finerenone to standard of care (SoC) versus SoC alone for the treatment of CKD in patients with T2D.
