Right hepatectomy due to portal vein thrombosis in vasculobiliary injury following laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a case report.

Introduction: Vasculobiliary injury composed of bile duct, portal vein and hepatic artery injury is a rare, but the most severe, complication after cholecystectomy that may require hepatectomy or even urgent liver transplantation.

Case Presentation: We present a case of a 36-year-old Caucasian woman with a biliary sepsis and a large right liver lobe abscess due to an extreme vasculobiliary injury after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Bismuth type IV biliary duct injury, portal vein thrombosis and injury of right hepatic artery were identified, resulting in life-threatening septic episodes.

Living donor liver transplantation for unresectable liver metastases from solid pseudo-papillary tumor of the pancreas: a case report.

Solid pseudo-papillary tumors (SPT) are rare primary tumors of the pancreas that primarily affect young women. They are of borderline malignancy, and, unlike other pancreatic malignancies, the prognosis after resection is quite good. However, metastatic disease does occur; the liver is the most common site of tumor dissemination.

Orthotopic liver transplantation in a patient with acute liver failure resulting from aortic dissection.

We report a case of acute liver ischemia resulting in liver failure that occurred due to celiac trunk occlusion by an aortic dissection. A 53-year-old patient presented with clinical signs of acute abdomen. He underwent an urgent laparotomy, which revealed a splenic infarction and thrombosis of the celiac artery all the way to the porta hepatis.

Croatian rugby project. Part II: injuries.

Background: Studies of rugby injuries in countries where rugby is not popular are rare. The aim of the study was to analyze the epidemiology and other characteristics of injuries in the first Croatian-Slovenian rugby league (CSRL) and the influence of anthropometric characteristics, body composition and constitution on the epidemiology of injuries.

Methods: Eleven anthropometric measures for the assessment of anthropometric characteristics, body composition and constitution were obtained in a sample of 111 voluntarily participating rugby players from the CSRL in the middle of the season 1996/97.
