Health insurance financing and patient retention in care at diabetics and hypertension clinics in Dar es Salaam and Pwani regions, Tanzania. A cohort study.

Hypertension and diabetes are chronic conditions that cause major morbidity and mortality worldwide. Whether health insurance financing is associated with improved retention in chronic care in Tanzania, is unknown. Our study establishes the effect of health insurance on retention and the determinants for retention in care among patients attending diabetes and hypertension clinics.

IPT coverage and determinants of care coverage in Tanzania.

Background: TB is a major cause of mortality worldwide, with the highest risk in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Isoniazid preventive therapy (IPT), in combination with antiretroviral therapy (ART), reduces the overall incidence and mortality from TB by up to 90% among PLWHA. Tanzania has limited published data on IPT coverage among PLWHA.

Implementation of WHO guidelines on management of advanced HIV disease and its impact among TB co-infected patients in Tanzania: a retrospective follow-up study.

Background: The commonest causes of mortality in people living with HIV (PLHIV) are preventable and the majority can be attributed to undiagnosed tuberculosis (TB). National HIV/AIDS control programs are encouraged to implement the WHO package of interventions to improve survival among PLHIV. Deposition of dust particles on foliage surfaces helps to filter airborne dust particles that occur predominantly in areas near thermal power plants (TPPs). Highly dust-laden foliage surrounding TPPs is a serious issue affecting the vegetation and façade greening adversely. Fly ash (FA) generated by TPPs have an adverse impact on the growth and development of flora.
