Peripartum considerations and challenges in the management of type IV Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is an uncommon heterogenous autosomal dominant multisystemic connective tissue disorder, which may potentially present with life-threatening emergencies. The prevalence of EDS of all subtypes is from 1 in 10 000 to 1 in 20 000. Pregnancy in women with type IV EDS poses significant challenges, necessitating the care of multidisciplinary team.

Nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequence of bovine adrenal medulla chromogranin B (secretogranin I).

1. A novel 1745-dalton pyroglutamyl peptide (BAM-1745)6 was recently isolated and characterized from bovine adrenal medulla chromaffin granules. Its amino acid sequence was found to be 93% identical to residues 580-593 of human chromogranin B (secretogranin I).

Cloning of the cDNA and gene for a human D2 dopamine receptor.

A clone encoding a human D2 dopamine receptor was isolated from a pituitary cDNA library and sequenced. The deduced protein sequence is 96% identical with that of the cloned rat receptor with one major difference: the human receptor contains an additional 29 amino acids in its putative third cytoplasmic loop. Southern blotting demonstrated the presence of only one human D2 receptor gene.

The human dopamine D2 receptor gene is located on chromosome 11 at q22-q23 and identifies a TaqI RFLP.
