Background: The aim of this study was to assess the impact of the Belfast Protocol for enhanced recovery after surgery on hospital length of stay (LOS) after kidney transplant.
Methods: A prospectively collected database was analyzed for all consecutive renal transplant recipients in 2010 and compared with consecutive renal transplant recipients in 2018 before and immediately after the full implementation of the Belfast Protocol.
Results: There were 73 renal transplants in 2010 and 115 in 2018.
Background: Key anatomical factors mean that individuals needing arteriovenous access are unique and have different possibilities for fistula creation. The aim of this article is to describe a new classification system for all patients needing haemodialysis vascular access in the upper extremity with the purpose to simplify sharing the information about suitability for surgical access creation depending on vascular anatomy.
Methods: According to the patient's vascular anatomy in right and left superior extremities, patients were separated into three arteriovenous access stages (AVAS).
Introduction: Living-donor renal transplantation is the optimal treatment for patients with end-stage renal disease. The rate of living donation in the UK is sub-optimal, and potential donor concerns regarding postoperative recovery may be contributory. Enhanced recovery programmes are well described for a number of surgical procedures, but experience in living-donor surgery is sparse.
