Introduction: Hepatic encephalopathy (HE), in the context of liver cirrhosis, seems to result from low-grade cerebral edema of the astrocytes. Serum brain biomarkers S-100-beta und neuron-specific enolase (NSE) are often elevated in brain injury. Serving as one of the few training institutions of medical oncology in the Philippines, the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital was faced with challenges brought by the coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19) pandemic. With the dismantling of routines and practices in the hospital, training activities such as daily rounds, conferences, and examinations were temporarily put on hold. Recognizing that the strength of any clinical training program is its wealth of patients, the immediate resumption of patient services, albeit limited at first, had been instrumental in ensuring the continuation of training in our institution.

Jejunal diverticulosis, a form of acquired false diverticula, is considered to be a rare clinical entity, which is mostly asymptomatic. But, in case of complications, jejunal diverticulosis can present as acute abdominal distress. Due to its rarity in clinical manifestation, jejunal diverticulosis may lead to a diagnostic and therapeutic delay.

Oesophageal rupture (Boerhaave syndrome) is a rare but serious complication after vomiting. Early intervention is mandatory in order to avoid a deleterious outcome for the patient. This case report describes the endoscopic approach using an over-the-scope clip.
