Survey of the present health & nutritional status of Shompen tribe of Great Nicobar Island.

Background Objectives: Shompens are one of the two mongoloid tribes of Nicobar district. There is little information about their recent health status since the last survey which was conducted in 1998. Hence, a comprehensive health and nutritional survey was conducted in March 2017 to assess the changes.

Nutritional status of Onges of Little Andaman Island - Current state and the change over the last fifteen years.

Onges, an indigenous vulnerable tribe, inhabit the Little Andaman Island. Study undertaken during 1997, recorded high prevalence of undernutrition among children. Subsequently, food rationing was modified by Andaman and Nicobar administration.
