Re-evaluating the utility of iron indices in hereditary hemochromatosis genotyping: A retrospective study.

Introduction: Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH), associated with C282Y or H63D mutations in the HFE gene, is the commonest genetic disorder in Canada. The majority of HH cases are attributable to C282Y homozygosity which can precipitate iron overload and organ damage, but with low penetrance. Elevated transferrin saturation (TSat) and ferritin levels are key biochemical indicators of iron overload in C282Y homozygotes.

Background: Hypertension is a prevalent non-communicable disease and unequivocally one of the most serious health threats of the twenty-first century. The prevention of both immediate and long-term consequences depends on ongoing therapeutic education.

Bedouin Adolescents during the Iron Swords War: What Strategies Help Them to Cope Successfully with the Stressful Situation?

This study examined the emotional reactions and coping resources of Bedouin teenagers (ages 12-18) following the events of 7 October 2023 and the subsequent Iron Swords War between Israel and Hamas forces in Gaza. This study focused on the relationships between subjective exposure, personal sense of coherence, community resilience, and the use of different coping strategies, on the one hand, and anxiety, anger, and psychological distress, on the other. During 2024, 762 participants completed the study questionnaire, which addressed the different study variables.
