Inflammatory rhabdomyoblastic tumor, pheochromocytoma, and pulmonary hamartoma in a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1: a case report.

Background: Inflammatory rhabdomyoblastic tumors are relatively recently recognized soft tissue tumors with a low malignant potential. Here, we present a case of concurrent inflammatory rhabdomyoblastic tumor (IRMT), adrenal pheochromocytoma, and pulmonary hamartoma in a patient with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). To our knowledge, this is the first time that this constellation of tumors has been described in the literature.

Masculinizing chest-wall surgeries in transgender patients, a retrospective single-center study.

Introduction: Masculinizing chest-wall contouring surgery is an important surgical intervention for most transmasculine patients; a vast improvement in quality of life for this group of patients has been documented as a result of receiving surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of such surgeries performed at our university hospital between 2008 and 2020, as well as the current quality of life of the patients.

Methods: All 16 patients operated between 2008 and 2020 were sent a questionnaire consisting of both BREAST-Q and BODY-Q modules, considered fitting for our study purposes, as well as the BECK Depression Index and a short two-question form with space for feedback.

Does Incisional Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Prevent Sternal Wound Infections?

Background:  Incisional negative pressure wound therapy has been described as an effective method to prevent wound infections after open heart surgery in several publications. However, most studies have examined relatively small patient groups, only a few were randomized, and some have manufacturer-sponsorship. Most of the studies have utilized Prevena; there are only a few reports describing the PICO incisional negative pressure wound therapy system.

Obese people benefit from lumbar spinal stenosis surgery as much as people of normal weight.

Background: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a common degenerative condition of the spine that causes back pain radiating to the lower extremity. Surgical treatment is indicated to treat progressive radical symptoms. Obesity has been associated with inferior results in the domains of quality of life (QoL) following an LSS operation, but the research findings have been limited.
