Saving as many lives as possible while ensuring equity for vulnerable groups through access to triage resources has been the dominant position since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. However, the exact relationship between the principles of social justice and efficiency remains a controversial and unresolved issue. In this paper, we aim to systematically distinguish between different models of this relationship and show that conceptualizing social justice as a 'moral side-constraint' or adopting a 'balancing approach' that attempt to reconcile social justice with efficiency inevitably lead to significant moral costs that require further justification.

We introduce Konnektor, an open-source Python package, for systematically planning, modifying, and analyzing free energy calculation networks. Konnektor is designed to aid in the drug discovery process by enabling users to easily setup free energy campaigns using complex graph manipulation methods.

Methods: This was a prospective study of consecutive patients with singleton pregnancies presenting for an ultrasound examination between 11 and 14 weeks' gestation. UtA-PI measurements were conducted by residents in training and repeated by experienced sonographers thereafter.
Background: The Asthma Impairment and Risk Questionnaire (AIRQ), a 10-item, equally weighted, yes/no tool assessing symptom impairment and risk of exacerbations in patients with asthma aged ≥12 years, was developed and validated in a US patient population to evaluate varying levels of asthma control. This study aimed to validate the German language version of the AIRQ in patients aged ≥12 years with different levels of asthma control.
Methods: A cross-sectional, observational, multi-centre study comprising a single visit was conducted in multiple specialised asthma centres and general practices in Germany.
In binding free energy calculations, simulations must sample all relevant conformations of the system in order to obtain unbiased results. For instance, different ligands can bind to different metastable states of a protein, and if these protein conformational changes are not sampled in relative binding free energy calculations, the contribution of these states to binding is not accounted for and thus calculated binding free energies are inaccurate. In this work, we investigate the impact of different beta-sectretase 1 (BACE1) protein conformations obtained from x-ray crystallography on the binding of BACE1 inhibitors.
