[Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in children with bacterial tracheitis].

Unlabelled: Bacterial tracheitis is a severe cause of acute infectious upper-airway obstruction. Its characteristics include thick purulent secretions with or without plaques or pseudomembrane formation. Fatal complications are infrequent if an appropriate treatment is conducted.

[Factors associated with delay in calling Emergency Medical Services ("15") for patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction in southern Isère].

Background: Time until revascularization is an important prognostic factor for patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction. The objective of this study was to investigate the factors associated with patients' delay in calling for emergency medical services (SAMU, "15" in France).

Methods: We analyzed the original data of a permanent prospective register of patients receiving care from mobile intensive care units staffed by emergency physicians and dispatched by SAMU in southern Isère (France), from October 1, 2002, through December 31, 2004.

[Misleading diagnosis of a migratory epigastric pain in mobile emergency units: spontaneous rupture of the oesophagus].

The local mobile emergency unit took charge of a patient who suffered from a sudden migratory epigastric pain in the back. The clinical picture led to an initial diagnosis of an aorta dissection. Admitted to Grenoble UH's emergency unit, the radiological examination ruled out a cardiovascular pathology.

[Unintentional drowning in fresh water].

Objective: Unintentional drowning is an important public health problem. Effective prevention measures require detailed knowledge of the specific epidemiology of fresh water drowning and near-drowning incidents.

Methods: We analyzed statistics about these incidents in Isère (district in southeastern France) from 1996 through 2003.
