Classic Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL) histologically consists of Hodgkin Reed-Sternberg (HRS) cells and the tumor microenvironment (TME), but the relationship between TME characteristics and clinical features of CHL remains unclear. We aimed to investigate the effects of the TME structure on the outcomes of patients with CHL. We performed a high-throughput analysis of HRS cells and their topological relationship with the reactive immune cells in the TME.

Background: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is often performed in elderly patients for stone removal and biliary drainage following common bile duct stones or malignant biliary obstruction. Safety in ERCP should be considered in elderly patients due to complications and decreased activities of daily living (ADL), but there are no adequate pretest evaluation criteria. In recent years, the usefulness of the comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) for planning treatment and predicting prognosis has been reported.

Background/objectives: Elastography increased the diagnostic accuracy of liver fibrosis. However, several challenges persist, including the widespread utilization of equipment, difficulties in measuring certain cases, and the influence of viscosity factors. A rough surface and a blunted hepatic margin have long been acknowledged as valuable characteristics indicative of hepatic fibrosis.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the long-term outcomes of patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related liver cancer (HCC) who underwent surgery, focusing on those who achieved sustained virologic response (SVR) from antiviral therapy versus those who didn't.
  • A total of 216 patients were analyzed, revealing that those with pre- or post-SVR had better liver health and significantly improved overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) compared to the non-SVR group.
  • Results suggested that achieving SVR, particularly through direct-acting antiviral (DAA) therapy, was strongly linked to lower recurrence rates and increased survival rates after surgical resection of HCC.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares two emerging procedures, Balloon Endoscopy-Assisted Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (BE-ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasonography-Guided Biliary Drainage (EUS-BD), for treating malignant biliary obstruction (MBO) in patients with altered surgical anatomy.
  • Results show EUS-BD had a significantly higher technical success rate (94%) compared to BE-ERCP (70%), while the clinical success rates and adverse events were similar between the two methods.
  • The findings suggest that EUS-BD is more effective than BE-ERCP, particularly in patients with an intact papilla, where BE-ERCP's technical
