Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to describe the clinical features, imaging, management, and outcomes of brown tumors (BT) of the jaws, while also reviewing existing literature to clarify debates surrounding these lesions.
  • Sixteen patients with BT linked to different forms of hyperparathyroidism were treated, revealing that the majority had primary or secondary hyperparathyroidism and that surgical intervention led to tumor regression in some cases.
  • The findings indicate that parathyroidectomy is the most effective treatment for primary hyperparathyroidism, while effective management of chronic renal insufficiency is crucial for success in treating secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism.
