Article Synopsis
  • The study examines how age affects liver transplantation outcomes in Israeli patients since age restrictions were lifted in 2014, focusing on patients 18 years and older.
  • It analyzed data from 269 transplantations, finding that despite varying one-year survival rates across different age groups, age alone did not significantly impact overall survival outcomes.
  • Key health issues like cardiovascular diseases and other pre-existing conditions were identified as crucial factors affecting survival, emphasizing that older, healthy patients should not be automatically denied access to transplantation.
