Background: Gastric intestinal metaplasia (IM) is a precancerous stage spanning a morphological spectrum that is poorly represented by human cell line models.
Objective: We aim to establish and characterise human IM cell models to better understand IM progression along the cancer spectrum.
Design: A large human gastric IM organoid (IMO) cohort (n=28), their clonal derivatives and normal gastric organoids (n=42) for comparison were established.
Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) technologies, such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), offer significant therapeutic potential for a growing number of neuropsychiatric conditions. Concurrent with the expansion of this field is the swift evolution of rTMS methodologies, including approaches to optimize stimulation site planning. Traditional targeting methods, foundational to early successes in the field and still widely employed today, include using scalp-based heuristics or integrating structural MRI co-registration to align the transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) coil with anatomical landmarks.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Impaired diffusing capacity of the lung (DLCO) in the absence of post-bronchodilator (BD) airflow obstruction has been proposed as a marker of 'Pre-COPD'. However, the relationship between impaired DLCO and subsequent lung function decline and COPD incidence has not been examined in-depth.
Methods: We conducted an observational study of adults aged between 40 and 70 years who were evaluated at a multi-centre lung function laboratory in Australia between 2014 and 2024.
Objective: To identify FPs with additional training and focused practice activities relevant to the needs of older patients within health administrative data and to describe their medical practices and service provision in community-based primary care settings.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Setting: Ontario.
