In the food quality and safety arena, there is a need to develop novel and sustainable methodologies that can help in the prevention of foodborne diseases. Herein, we report the development of a rapid conducting polymer strip-based sensor using Polyaniline-pectin (PANI-PEC) for the detection of in milk and milk products. Polyaniline-pectin nanoparticles stabilized with biopolymer pectin were synthesized and its characterization studies such as FTIR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, electrical conductivity and particle size analysis were done.

Article Synopsis
  • Phenolic acids are key bioactive compounds found in plants, particularly in fruits and beverages but also in vegetables, which are often underexplored as sources of these compounds.
  • This review emphasizes the importance of vegetables in providing phenolic acids, highlighting their accessibility and higher consumption rates compared to fruits, potentially offering significant health benefits.
  • It discusses how processing methods can affect the retention of phenolic acids and suggests optimal techniques for maximizing their presence in the diet, aiming to support research for developing nutraceuticals that could help mitigate lifestyle-related health issues.

Background: Ropivacaine, a newer local anesthetic (LA), has been increasingly used nowadays in different concentrations for peripheral nerve blocks. It has lesser cardiac toxicity and higher safety margin when compared to bupivacaine. Dexmedetomidine, a novel α agonist, is widely used as adjuvant to LA in peripheral nerve blocks to decrease the time of onset and increase the duration of the block.
