Embedding cultural competence in dental education.

Cultural competence plays a pivotal role in dentistry and is increasingly recognised and studied worldwide. As the dental profession evolves to cater to an ever-diverse society, it is imperative that universities consider how they support students in acquiring the skillset for providing culturally sensitive care. Cultural competency in dental education is highly variable globally.

Maternal autoimmune systemic connective tissue disease and vasculitis and electrocardiographic findings in the offspring.

Introduction: Maternal autoimmune systemic connective tissue diseases (CTDs) and their related antibodies have been associated with adverse fetal outcomes, including complete heart block. In this study, we assessed the association between maternal CTD or vasculitis and neonatal electrocardiographic (ECG) parameters.

Methods: Our study population was drawn from the Copenhagen Baby Heart Study (CBHS), a prospective, population-based cohort study open to all neonates born in the Copenhagen area.

Novel Diagnostics in Food Allergy.

Food allergy is increasing in prevalence, and poses significant challenges for individuals and their families, adversely impacting their quality of life. Misdiagnosis can lead to unnecessary dietary and social limitations, and increased food allergy risk, while failure to diagnose may result in life-threatening anaphylaxis. Therefore, a precise diagnosis is of the utmost importance; however, barriers exist at every stage of the diagnostic process.

Medical Care Provider Involvement in Ontario Assisted Living Homes: A Descriptive Cross-Sectional Survey Analysis.

Objectives: Assisted living is growing in Ontario. Medical services are not regulated in Ontario, resulting in variability of physician involvement. We described medical service provider involvement and practice characteristics in assisted living homes.
