Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the outcome of two single-incision mini-slings (the Contasure-Needleless [C-NDL] and the endopelvic free anchorage) with the standard midurethral transobturator tension-free vaginal tape (TVT-O) procedure.
Methods: A double blind randomized controlled study was conducted at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital from August 2014 until July 2015. A total of 209 patients were randomized into three groups.
Purpose: Evaluation of the safety and efficacy of the use of polypropylene mesh for cystocele repair using minimally invasive technique.
Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the perioperative events, short-term postoperative side-effects, and follow up for 152 patients who underwent repair for cystocele grade 2 or more using a polypropylene mesh. The repair was performed through a small anterior vaginal wall incision, with the arms of the mesh passed through a transobturator route using a corkscrew needle.
Normal haematological reference values were obtained for Greater and Lesser flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus, Phoeniconaias minor). Statistically significant differences in the total white cell count and the absolute heterophil count were found in the two species. The reference values were used to identify abnormalities in the blood of five sick birds.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFull blood counts and fibrinogen estimations were carried out on 14 healthy adult Gentoo penguins and on 14 birds with bumblefoot. Compared with healthy birds, individuals with severe bumblefoot showed heterophilia and hyperfibrinogenaemia. These changes probably typify the response of the blood to inflammatory and infectious agents in the species.
