With appropriate training of emergency medical technicians and adequate supportive services such as blood banking and arteriography, the vascular surgeon in a small hospital setting can manage peripheral vascular trauma with acceptable results.

Equipment costs and training costs are not prohibitive for a small hospital. The procedures result in minimal morbidity, and have enhanced treatment of gynecologic problems.
