Coherent control of Optical limiting in atomic systems.

Generation and control of the reverse saturable absorption (RSA) and optical limiting (OL) are investigated in a four-level Y-type quantum system. It is demonstrated that the applied laser fields induce the RSA and it can be coherently controlled by either intensity or frequency of the applied laser fields. The effect of the static magnetic field on the induced RSA is studied and we obtain that it has a constructive role in determining the intensity range in which the OL is established in the system.

Fate of retained capsule: a pathognomonic for surgery.

Since its introduction in 2001, Wireless Video Capsule enteroscopy is gaining acceptance due to its high diagnostic potential and minimal risk. In some centers, it offers an alternative approach to visualize the small intestine and to evaluate patients with suspected small bowel disease. We present a series of known complications of this procedure and call for a more proactive role in the management of retained capsule.

Quotational and reference accuracy in surgical journals. A continuing peer review problem.

Fifty randomly selected references from a single monthly issue of The American Journal of Surgery; Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics; and Surgery were evaluated for citation and quotation errors. Thirteen major and 41 minor citation errors were found in the three journals. Thirty-seven major quotation errors were identified.
