Introduction: This quality improvement project has tracked postoperative measures for more than 5 years as we implement an opioid-free laparoscopic appendectomy protocol.
Methods: We used statistical process control charts to analyze real-world data captured from the medical record. Outcome measures included postanesthesia care unit (PACU) length of stay (LOS), 24-hour maximum pain scores, PACU intravenous opioid medication administration, hospital LOS, and postoperative day 1 morphine milliequivalent requirement.
This report extends the development of normative standards for estimating occupational hearing loss using data from the United States National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics. A proposed revision of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 1999:2013 standard ("Acoustics-Estimation on noise-induced hearing loss") uses a linear interpolation of hearing threshold data to estimate the 25th and 75th percentiles for men and women at 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 6000, and 8000 Hz. This paper revisits the NHANES data to provide these estimates, avoiding other types of interpolations that could misrepresent the population data.

We conducted similar surveillance in 5 hospitals in Eswatini from September 2021 to September 2023 to evaluate the prevalence of birth defects and adverse pregnancy outcomes by maternal HIV status and ART regimen/timing.
Methods: Routine pregnancy history and HIV/ART status were collected from clinic records.
Background: Studies have described a first pass effect (FPE) where patients with successful recanalization after one pass experience better outcomes. Few studies have evaluated this in patients with large core infarctions.
Objective: To determine whether patients with large core infarcts undergoing mechanical thrombectomy in which first pass reperfusion is achieved experience improved outcomes compared with those who undergo more than one pass.
The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) device has become a prominent treatment for wide-neck bifurcation intracranial aneurysms since its FDA approval in 2018. However, the impact of anticoagulant therapy on its efficacy and patient outcomes remains underexplored. This study aims to evaluate the effects of postoperative anticoagulant use on aneurysm occlusion, retreatment rates, and functional outcomes following WEB device implantation.
