Effect of Direct-Acting Antiviral Agents on Gastroesophageal Varices in Patients with Hepatitis C Virus-Related Cirrhosis.

Aim: In patients with hepatitis C virus-related liver cirrhosis (LC) who achieve sustained virological responses (SVRs) through treatment with direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs), it remains unclear whether there are improvements in gastroesophageal varices (GEVs) and portal hypertension. We investigated changes in liver function and GEVs that occurred after DAA therapy. Materials and Methods: We evaluated the medical records of 195 patients with hepatitis C virus-related LC who received DAAs.

Multiple metastatic gestational trophoblastic disease after a twin pregnancy with complete hydatidiform mole and coexisting fetus, following assisted reproductive technology: Case report and literature review.

Objective: Twin pregnancy with complete hydatidiform mole and coexisting fetus (CHMCF) is rare and associated with severe complications during pregnancy and subsequent gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). We encountered a case of multiple metastatic GTD after a twin pregnancy with CHMCF, following conventional in vitro fertilization (IVF). Only one case of metastatic GTD after CHMCF due to assisted reproductive technology (ART) has been reported.

A phase I study of cisplatin i.p. and carboplatin i.v. with G-CSF in patients with ovarian cancer.

We conducted a dose-escalation study with a fixed dose of intraperitoneal cisplatin and G-CSF support of carboplatin using the Calvert formula in epithelial ovarian cancer. Twenty-five patients were entered in this study. On day 1, carboplatin was administered intravenously at target AUCs of 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Complications associated with CDDP intraperitoneal chemotherapy.

As CDDP-ip is known to affect intraperitoneal tumors directly, and reduce CDDP associated adverse reactions, it has been used not only for ovarian cancer but other intraperitoneal tumors. However ip chemotherapy requires catheter placement at the time of laparotomy. We investigated the complications of catheters as an intraperitoneal administration route.
