Background: Adolescents with chronic musculoskeletal pain face different impairments in daily life. After an inpatient pain rehabilitation program, adolescents function better on several domains. The aim of this study was to explore the long-term work participation of adults who followed inpatient pain rehabilitation during adolescence because of chronic musculoskeletal pain and to identify potential facilitators and barriers regarding work in later life.

The relationship between perceived athletic competence (PAC) and physical activity (PA) in children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD) is still unclear. This study investigated differences in PAC and PA between, and within, a group of children with DCD that were clinically referred (n = 31) and a group of control children (n = 38), aged 7-12 years. All children were categorized in four groups: (1) children with DCD/low PAC, (2) children with DCD/normal to high PAC, (3) control children/low PAC, and (4) control children/normal to high PAC.

Article Synopsis
  • Bispecific antibodies (bsAbs) were developed to deliver small interfering RNA (siRNA) specifically to cancer cells by targeting tumor antigens while also binding to digoxigenin (Dig).
  • The bsAb-siRNA complexes effectively internalized into cells, but the release of siRNA into the cytoplasm was initially insufficient for mRNA knockdown.
  • To enhance delivery and achieve effective mRNA knockdown, the siRNA was formulated into nanoparticles, enabling targeted siRNA delivery in a variety of cell types and showing promising results in tumor models in mice.

The efficacy of gene therapy mediated by plasmid DNA (pDNA) depends on the selection of suitable vectors and doses. Using hydrodynamic limb vein (HLV) injection to deliver naked pDNA to skeletal muscles of the limbs, we evaluated key parameters that affect expression in muscle from genes encoded in pDNA. Short-term and long-term promoter comparisons demonstrated that kinetics of expression differed between cytomegalovirus (CMV), muscle creatine kinase, and desmin promoters, but all gave stable expression from 2 to 49 weeks after delivery to mouse muscle.

Background: To properly study gene expression in vivo, often long-term expression is desired. Previous studies using plasmid DNA (pDNA) vectors have typically resulted in short-term expression. Here, we evaluated combinations of the albumin promoter with different enhancers and untranslated regions for liver-specific expression in mice.
