Objectives: We evaluated the noise reduction effects of deep learning reconstruction (DLR) and hybrid iterative reconstruction (HIR) in brain computed tomography (CT).

Methods: CT images of a 16 cm dosimetry phantom, a head phantom, and the brains of 11 patients were reconstructed using filtered backprojection (FBP) and various levels of DLR and HIR. The slice thickness was 5, 2.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines 18 and 23 specimens of two little-known anchovy species, Stolephorus grandis and Stolephorus waitei, focusing on their morphology and distribution in the Sahul Shelf coastal region.
  • Researchers analyzed the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene, revealing a significant genetic divergence between the two species, with a mean genetic distance over 10%.
  • The findings indicate that Stolephorus waitei, S. grandis, and another species, Stolephorus nelsoni, form a monophyletic group unique to the Sahul Shelf, with additional discussion on the evolutionary significance of specific dorsal markings in these anchovies.

Article Synopsis
  • * A clinical trial tested the safety and efficacy of ADSC spray therapy alongside CABG in patients with significantly impaired heart function, comparing it to a placebo group.
  • * Results indicated that patients receiving ADSC therapy showed reductions in heart tissue injury, improved heart function, and better exercise tolerance, while the placebo group saw no meaningful changes.

Tropospheric ozone formation depends on the emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and nitrogen oxides (NO). In megacities, abundant VOC and NO sources cause relentlessly high ozone episodes, affecting a large share of the global population. This study uses data from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument for formaldehyde (HCHO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO) as proxy data for VOC and NO emissions, respectively, with their ratio serving as an indicator of ozone sensitivity.

Background: Infection is a rare complication of percutaneous renal biopsy (RB). However, the questionnaire included in the Kidney Biopsy Guidebook 2020 in Japan revealed that antibiotic prophylaxis (AP) was administered at about 60% of hospitals. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether it is possible to omit AP for RB.
