Frequent sauna bathing has been associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and proposed as a mediator for improved health. Therefore, the aim was to describe and compare sauna bathers with non-sauna bathers in northern Sweden based on their demographics, health and life attitudes, and to describe sauna bathers' sauna habits. Questions on sauna bathing habits were included in the questionnaire for the participants in the Northern Sweden MONICA (multinational monitoring of trends and determinants in cardiovascular disease) study, conducted during spring of 2022, inviting adults 25-74 years living in the two northernmost counties of Sweden (Norr- and Västerbotten), randomly selected from the population register.

This study aimed to explore plasma protein biomarkers associated with systemic mastocytosis subtypes, as well as the cellular origin of the identified proteins. Plasma samples from patients with mastocytosis, including cutaneous mastocytosis (CM), indolent systemic mastocytosis (ISM), and advanced systemic mastocytosis (AdvSM), and a reference group of patients with polycythemia vera, were analyzed by Proximity Extension Assay technology targeting 275 proteins.

To assess the diagnostic and prognostic value of individual serum chemistry parameters in SM, 2607 patients enrolled within the European Competence Network on Mastocytosis and 575 patients enrolled within the German Registry on Eosinophils and Mast Cells were analyzed. For screening and diagnosis of SM, tryptase was identified as the most specific serum parameter.

Since high levels of G-CSF activates endothelial cells and can induce a pro-coagulatory state, and fuelled by case reports of cardiovascular events in donors, some concerns have been raised about a potential for an increased risk of cardiovascular events for the donors after donation. We studied the incidence of cardiovascular disease following stem cell donation in a Swedish national register based cohort of 1098 peripheral blood stem cell donors between 1998 and 2016.
