Recycling spent batteries is increasingly important for the sustainable use of Li-ion batteries (LIBs) and for countering the supply uncertainty of critical raw minerals (Li, Co, and Ni). Bioleaching, which uses microorganisms to extract valuable metals, is both economical and environmentally safe compared to other recycling methods, but its practical application is impaired by slow kinetics. Accelerating the process is a key for bioleaching spent LIBs on an industrial scale.

Neonatal sepsis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in developing countries. This study aimed to assess the proportion of culture-confirmed sepsis, bacteriological pathogen profile, culture report turnaround times, antibiotic susceptibility patterns, and treatment outcomes of all with neonatal sepsis admitted in two tertiary care hospitals in Yangon, Myanmar, 2017-2019. A fixed-dose combination (FDC) may improve patient compliance and clinical outcomes in the management of cardiovascular risk in hypertensive and dyslipidemic patients. The study (NCT02075619) evaluated the bioavailability of 2 prototype FDC tablet formulations (FDC1 and FDC2) of amlodipine/rosuvastatin (10 mg/20 mg) compared with coadministered reference tablets. It was a randomized, single-dose, 3-way crossover pilot study in healthy white (n = 12) and Chinese (n = 12) adults.

Background: In Myanmar, approximately half of all neonatal hospital admissions are for hyperbilirubinaemia, and tertiary facilities report high rates of Exchange Transfusion (ET). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the pilot program in reducing ET, separately of inborn and outborn neonates.

Methods: The study was conducted in the Neonatal Care Units of four national tertiary hospitals: two exclusively treating inborn neonates, and two solely for outborn neonates.
