Rivaroxaban was FDA-approved in 2019 for venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis in acutely ill hospitalized patients. Little to no published data is available to determine the level of correlation between rivaroxaban drug concentration and UFH/LMWH calibrated anti-Xa assays at VTE prophylactic doses of rivaroxaban 10 mg daily. This study aimed to assess the anticoagulant effects of rivaroxaban prophylactic doses using LMWH calibrated anti-Xa levels at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH).

As predators, owls can play important ecological roles in biological communities, but how changing fire regimes affect individual species and species assemblages is largely unknown. Here, we examined the impact of fire severity, history, and configuration over the past 35 years on an assemblage of six forest owl species in the Sierra Nevada, California, using ecosystem-scale passive acoustic monitoring.

Background: Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder affecting neuromuscular junctions, leading to fluctuating muscle weakness. While many patients respond well to standard immunosuppression, a substantial subgroup faces ongoing disease activity. Emerging treatments such as complement factor C5 inhibition (C5IT) and neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) antagonism hold promise for these patients.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFSensory disabilities have been identified as significant risk factors for dementia but underlying molecular mechanisms are unknown. In different Drosophila models with loss of sensory input, we observe non-autonomous induction of the integrated stress response (ISR) deep in the brain, as indicated by eIF2α phosphorylation-dependent elevated levels of the ISR effectors ATF4 and XRP1. Unlike during canonical ISR, however, the ATF4 and XRP1 transcription factors are enriched in cytosolic granules that are positive for RNA and the stress granule markers Caprin, FMR1, and p62, and are reversible upon restoration of vision for blind flies.
