Since their first use in the 1930s, shake flasks have been a widely used bioreactor type for screening and process development due to a number of advantages. However, the limited gas-liquid mass transfer capacities-resulting from practical operation limits regarding shaking frequency and filling volumes-are a major drawback. The common way to increase the gas-liquid mass transfer in shake flasks with the implementation of baffles is generally not recommended as it comes along with several severe disadvantages.

In medical schools, the COVID-19 pandemic required a complete switch to e-learning without any direct patient contact despite early reports showing that medical students preferred face-to-face teaching in clinical setting. We designed close to real-life patient e-learning modules to transmit competency-based learning contents to medical students and evaluated their responses about their experience.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFT-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a rare, aggressive T-cell malignancy. Chemotherapy alone cures only 25-45% of the cases, thus, novel treatment agents and strategies are urgently needed. We assessed the efficacy of ruxolitinib in a patient with a cutaneous relapse after allogeneic blood cell transplantation of a refractory T-ALL with a Janus kinase 3 () mutation.

Timing of apheresis is challenging in heavily pretreated patients who suffer from rapid progressive disease and receive T cell impairing medication.
Methods: A total of 75 unstimulated leukaphereses were analyzed including 45 aphereses in patients and 30 in healthy donors.

Background And Purpose: Blood flow management in the carotid artery during mechanical thrombectomy is crucial for safety and effectiveness. There is an ongoing discussion about whether balloon-guide catheters or large-bore sheaths are needed for effective flow management. We compared general flow characteristics of proximal aspiration through a large-bore sheath and a balloon-guide catheter in a porcine in vivo model.
