Background: Based on favourable results from clinical trials, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) have become the standard first line (1 L) systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) for advanced stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) without targetable mutations. We evaluate whether these results are generalizable to everyday clinical practice and compare overall survival (OS) of patients treated with ICI to a historical cohort of patients treated with chemotherapy and results from clinical trials.
Methods: Our study comprised all advanced NSCLC patients initiating SACT in 2012-21 in Norway.
Background: The Prostate Cancer Cohort Consortium (PC3) Working Group proposed a definition for aggressive prostate cancer (PC) for aetiologic epidemiologic research. We aimed to validate this definition as well as a second approach utilising only information on stage at diagnosis.
Methods: First primary PCs diagnosed 2004 - 2009 in the population-based Janus Serum Bank (JSB) cohort were identified by linkage to the population-based Cancer Registry of Norway (CRN) ( = 3568).
Purpose: Circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) is inversely associated with overall cancer mortality and selected cancers, while for urothelial bladder cancer (BC) this relationship is unclear. We aimed to examine the association between 25(OH)D and BC mortality.
Materials And Methods: We used prediagnostic serum from 378 BC cases within the population-based Janus Cohort.
Background: High circulating levels of vitamin D (25(OH)D) are suggested to reduce the risk of urinary bladder cancer (BC), but the evidence is weak, and several studies lack sufficient adjustment for potential confounders (e.g., smoking, body mass index (BMI), and physical activity).
