The continuous progression of industrialisation and the burgeoning global population have precipitated the non-renewable energy crisis and exacerbated environmental problems, thereby stimulating a huge demand for production of environmentally friendly materials. Typically, biomass-based aerogels (BAs) derived from cellulose, chitosan (CS), lignin, and alginate have been gradually captivating the attention of researchers owing to their high specific surface area, substantial porosity, low density, porous architecture, and biodegradability. In this review, we demonstrate the sustainability of BAs by contrasting the overall advantages or disadvantages of BAs with those of synthetic alternatives in terms of cost, insulation performance, and planetary boundaries.

Loquat leaves, flowers, and other organs contain abundant antioxidant substances, which have wide applications in medicine, health, and food industries. This study aims to provide theoretical guidance for loquat hybrid parent and combination selection and a basis for high-quality loquat strain screening and development. For comprehensive antioxidant profiling, we used "Ninghaibai" and "Oobusa" loquat and their F generation as experimental materials to determine the total phenol, flavonoid, DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP content in the leaves and flowers of 56 strains.

Studies on triaxial contact stresses and asphalt pavement rutting are of great significance for traffic safety and the durability of the asphalt pavement. Our new approach considers more evaluating indicators by investigating compressive creep, vertical, and longitudinal permanent deformation to analyse asphalt pavement rutting under triaxial contact stress during typical driving conditions. For this purpose, firstly sophisticated three-dimensional finite element models encompassing the truck-bus tire and asphalt pavement temperature are developed.
