Science and the legal rights of nature.

We review the use of science by lawmakers and courts in implementing or rejecting legal rights for nature in Ecuador, India, the United States, and other jurisdictions where some type of rights of nature have been recognized in the legal system. We then use the "right to evolve" to exemplify how interdisciplinary work can (i) help courts effectively define what this right might entail; (ii) inform how it might be applied in different circumstances; and (iii) provide a template for how scientists and legal scholars can generate the interdisciplinary scholarship necessary to understand and implement the growing body of rights-of-nature laws, and environmental law more generally. We conclude by pointing to what further research is needed to understand and effectively implement the growing body of rights-of-nature laws.

[Physical and chemical methods for eliminating propagules of indigenous mycorrhizal fungi from soil samples].

The objective of this work was to evaluate methods to eliminate or reduce the number of indigenous arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) from soil samples without affecting their edaphic or microbiological properties. At an early trial we evaluated moist heat (autoclaving), dry heat (oven), sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) and formaldehyde at a range of 100.0-3.

[Mycotrophic capacity and efficiency of microbial consortia of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi native of soils from Buenos Aires province under contrasting management].

We characterized the infective and sporulation capacities of microbial consortia of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) native of Buenos Aires province (Argentina) and determined if some soil characteristics and mycorrhizal parameters could allow to select potentially beneficial inocula. Soil samples were selected from seven locations in Buenos Aires province all under agricultural (A) and pristine (P) conditions. The AMF were multiplied and mycorrhizal root colonization of trap plants was observed at 10 weeks of growth.

Bioavailability of two dermal formulations of S(+)ibuprofen in rabbit.

Ibuprofen (CAS 15687-27-1) is widely used in painful situations and, usually, is administered in the racemic form. Since enantiomers may exert different pharmacodinamic and pharmacokinetic effects, the pharmaceutical industry has placed new emphasis on the preparation of new formulations of enantiomerically pure drugs that must be pharmacokinetically characterised prior to their administration in human beings. In this study, the absorption kinetics of two topical formulations of S(+)ibuprofen in rabbits was investigated.

[Investigation of LIsteria monocytogenes in soft cheeses].

Listeria monocytogenes has been recognized as a bacteria that produces severe illness in animals and humans. Considering the importance of the presence of L. monocytogenes in soft paste cheeses, a study of diverse cheeses from supermarkets of direct sale to the public was carried out.
