Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is a rare disease of unknown aetiology, in which calcium phosphate microliths are deposited bilaterally throughout the lung parenchyma. The total number of reported cases is about 400. A case of pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is presented in a 50-year old man for whom the diagnosis was confirmed by histology via transbronchial biopsy.
