Background: Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is the prototypical disorder of emotion dysregulation. We have previously shown that patients with BPD are impaired in their capacity to engage cognitive reappraisal, a frequently employed adaptive emotion regulation strategy.

Article Synopsis
  • Anabolic treatment is necessary for high-risk osteoporosis patients, but the current injectable medications are not well-accepted; this study tests a new oral PTH tablet alternative.
  • In a 6-month, double-blind study with 161 postmenopausal women, the oral PTH showed dose-dependent effects on bone markers, with the highest dose (2.5 mg) significantly increasing bone formation markers and decreasing bone resorption markers.
  • The 2.5 mg oral PTH tablets improved bone mineral density (BMD) at crucial sites (lumbar spine, total hip, and femoral neck) compared to placebo, and while some mild side effects occurred, no serious adverse events were reported.

No studies to date have evaluated the prevalence and clinical correlates of psychotic symptoms in children requiring inpatient mental health treatment.

Oral delivery of peptides and proteins is hindered by their rapid proteolysis in the gastrointestinal tract and their inability to permeate biological membranes. Various drug delivery approaches are being investigated and implemented to overcome these obstacles. In the discussed study conducted in pigs, an investigation was undertaken to assess the effect of combination of a permeation enhancer - salcaprozate sodium, and a proteolysis inhibitor - soybean trypsin inhibitor, on the systemic exposure of the peptide teriparatide, following intraduodenal administration.

Background Dual-energy CT enterography (DECTE) has been shown to be useful in characterizing Crohn disease activity compared with clinical markers of inflammation but, to the knowledge of the authors, comparison has not been made with histopathologic specimens. Purpose To compare mucosal iodine density obtained at DECTE from Crohn disease-affected bowel with histopathologic specimens from surgically resected ileocolectomy bowel segments or terminal ileum colonoscopic biopsies in the same patients. Materials and Methods This was a retrospective study.
