Alzheimer's disease (AD) is marked by the coordinated emergence of disease-associated cell states across multiple cell types. Here, we first performed a meta-analysis of single-nucleus transcriptomic (snRNAseq) data from 869 brains of diverse decedents, confirming the critical role of an astrocyte subset, Astrocyte 10 (Ast10), in AD and aging-related cognitive decline. We then investigated the signaling drivers of Ast10's emergence in the aging brain, focusing on interactions among microglial and astrocytic subsets.

Potential Delayed Positive Effects of tDCS on Improving Introspective Accuracy in Social Cognition in Schizophrenia.

Background And Hypothesis: Impairments in introspective accuracy (IA) are prominent among schizophrenia patients and detrimentally affect daily functioning, making IA a potential therapeutic target. Recent research highlights the role of the right rostrolateral prefrontal cortex (rlPFC) in IA and suggests that transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) to this region may improve it. Therefore, we tested whether applying tDCS to the right rlPFC could enhance IA for schizophrenia patients and explored the potential order/delayed effects.

Parametrisation of wet deposition in the SNAP atmospheric dispersion model.

Parametrisation of wet deposition of radionuclides is considered a main contributor of uncertainties in atmospheric dispersion models employed within nuclear emergency preparedness and risk management. In order to reduce these uncertainties the current work aimed to improve the parametrisation of the Severe Nuclear Accident Programme (SNAP) dispersion model by implementing new codes for in-cloud and below-cloud wet scavenging processes. The new parametrisation was validated by comparing model outputs with the following observation data from areas affected by the Chernobyl accident: A gridded dataset of deposition in Europe, a recently digitised environmental monitoring dataset of soil deposition, and airborne surveys from two areas in Norway.
