Objectives: Over the last few years several offers in- and outpatient creative therapy interventions for cancer patients have been developed, implemented and researched. This article describes the content, concept and structure of art therapy interventions based on painting or drawing as well as some further methodical procedures and research results of art therapy in the field of psycho-oncology.

Methods: We searched electronic databases for papers published between 1987 and March 2009 on painting or drawing based art therapy interventions in oncology.

In all eukaryotes, a specialized enzyme, RNA polymerase I (Pol I), is dedicated to transcribe the 35S rRNA gene from a multicopy gene cluster, the ribosomal DNA (rDNA). In certain Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutants, 35S rRNA genes can be transcribed by RNA polymerase II (Pol II). In these mutants, rDNA silencing of Pol II transcription is impaired.

Synthesis of ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs) is the major transcriptional event in proliferating cells. In eukaryotes, ribosomal DNA (rDNA) is transcribed by RNA polymerase I from a multicopy locus coexisting in at least two different chromatin states. This heterogeneity of rDNA chromatin has been an obstacle to defining its molecular composition.

A specially designed heating system for temperature-programmed HPLC was developed based on experimental measurements of eluent temperature inside a stainless steel capillary using a very thin thermocouple. The heating system can be operated at temperatures up to 225 degrees C and consists of a preheating, a column heating and a cooling unit. Fast cycle times after a temperature gradient can be realized by an internal silicone oil bath which cools down the preheating and column heating unit.
