This Letter reports a search for charge-parity (CP) symmetry violating nonstandard interactions (NSI) of neutrinos with matter using the NOvA Experiment, and examines their effects on the determination of the standard oscillation parameters. Data from ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ})→ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ}) and ν_{μ}(ν[over ¯]_{μ})→ν_{e}(ν[over ¯]_{e}) oscillation channels are used to measure the effect of the NSI parameters ϵ_{eμ} and ϵ_{eτ}. With 90% CL the magnitudes of the NSI couplings are constrained to be |ϵ_{eμ}|≲0.

Article Synopsis
  • - Topiramate has shown effectiveness in reducing alcohol use and possibly lowering anxiety severity in patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD), compared to naltrexone, another medication used for AUD.
  • - In a study with 42 treatment-seeking AUD patients, participants were given either topiramate or naltrexone for 12 weeks, and their neural responses to an anxiety-inducing task were measured using fMRI after 6 weeks of treatment.
  • - The study found no major differences in brain activation between the two treatment groups, but it noted that changes in anxiety levels were linked to the brain's response to threat cues, providing insights into how these medications may work.

Background: Lung function testing remains a cornerstone in the assessment and management of interstitial lung disease (ILD) patients. The clinical implications of the Global Lung function Initiative (GLI) reference equations and the updated interpretation strategies remain uncertain.

Methods: Adult patients with ILD with baseline forced vital capacity (FVC) were included from the Australasian ILD registry and the National Healthcare Group ILD registry, Singapore.

Background: Lowering dietary salt intake reduces albuminuria, an early marker of renal damage and a sensitive predictor of adverse cardiovascular outcomes. The mechanisms underlying this effect are uncertain but small changes in serum sodium concentration may be important: this retrospective cohort study investigated the hypothesis that higher serum sodium concentration is a risk factor for albuminuria (defined as a urine albumin:creatinine ratio [UACR], ≥3 mg/mmol).

Methods: Primary care data from the Royal College of General Practitioners Research and Surveillance Centre were used to identify 47,294 individuals with a UACR result available between April 2010 and March 2015, and no known albuminuria prior to this.

Extended-wear hearing aids (EWHAs) are small broadband analog amplification devices placed deeply enough in the ear canal to preserve most of the cues in the head-related transfer function. However, little is known about how EWHAs affect localization accuracy for normal hearing threshold (NHT) listeners. In this study, eight NHT participants were fitted with EWHAs and localized broadband sounds of different durations (250 ms and 4 s) and stimulus intensities (40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 dBA) in a spherical speaker array.
