Gene expression is known to be affected by interactions between local genetic variation and DNA accessibility, with the latter organized into three-dimensional chromatin structures. Analyses of these interactions have previously been limited, obscuring their regulatory context, and the extent to which they occur throughout the genome. Here, we undertake a genome-scale analysis of these interactions in a genetically diverse population to systematically identify global genetic-epigenetic interaction, and reveal constraints imposed by chromatin structure.

In a context of saturation of private dental practices and medical demography issues, responses to requests for emergency dental care are a poorly documented problem. In partnership with the Observatoire Regional de la Santé, the URPS Chirurgiens-Dentistes Nouvelle-Aquitaine, a union, conducted a survey of private dentists in May and June 2022. The objective was to estimate the volume of requests for unscheduled dental care and to describe the responses provided by professionals.

Background: Nutrition screening is recommended to identify children at risk for malnutrition. A unique screening tool was developed based on American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) recommendations and embedded in the electronic medical record to assess for nutrition risk.

Methods: The components of the tool included the Paediatric Nutrition Screening Tool (PNST) and other elements recommended by ASPEN.

Article Synopsis
  • Raman spectroscopy is a powerful technique for molecular identification, producing specific spectra linked to molecular structures, and SERS enhances its sensitivity for analyzing mixtures quickly.
  • The study explores the integration of deep learning algorithms with SERS to effectively differentiate bile acids, which have minor structural variations and are relevant in medical research for gut health.
  • A convolutional neural network model was successfully developed to classify SERS spectra of five different bile acids, demonstrating reliable identification even at low concentrations.

Genetically diverse pluripotent stem cells display varied, heritable responses to differentiation cues. Here, we harnessed these disparities through derivation of mouse embryonic stem cells from the BXD genetic reference panel, along with C57BL/6J (B6) and DBA/2J (D2) parental strains, to identify loci regulating cell state transitions. Upon transition to formative pluripotency, B6 stem cells quickly dissolved naïve networks adopting gene expression modules indicative of neuroectoderm lineages, whereas D2 retained aspects of naïve pluripotency.
