Predictive value of three nutritional indexes for disease activity in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Background: Malnutrition is prevalent in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); however, its ability to predict the disease activity in IBD remains unexplored. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the association between malnutrition and disease activity in IBD.

Methods: In this retrospective study, we enrolled 1006 patients diagnosed with IBD from the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from 2011 to 2022.

Background: Sarcopenia was recognized to be one of the common comorbidities in heart failure (HF). The sarcopenia index (SI), based on serum creatinine to cystatin C ratio, was developed as a simple tool to evaluate skeletal muscle mass but has not been well-studied in the correlation of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). The aim of this study is to analyze the SI in patients with HF, especially patients with HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), and to develop a prediction model for HFpEF.
