Aims: This review aims to identify the evidence base for the consequences of over and undertreatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in a frail population.
Method: In this systematic review, we searched MEDLINE, Embase, PubMed, CINAHL and the Cochrane Library for studies from January 2001 to 15th August 2022. We included a variety of study types that assessed and reported frailty including patients ≥18 years old.
Background/aim: Ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation initiates vitamin D synthesis in the skin, making sun exposure a major source of vitamin D. We aimed to determine whether office lighting containing ultra-low levels of UV-B radiation could modify the winter decline in vitamin D status in the UK, while being safe and well tolerated.
Patients And Methods: Twenty commercial office desk lamps were modified with the addition of UV-B LEDs.
Introduction: Individuals with early-onset Alzheimer's disease face many challenges and barriers older adults with late-onset Alzheimer's do not. Unfortunately, information about early-onset Alzheimer's disease is in its infancy stage in comparison with late-onset Alzheimer's.
Purpose/aims: The purpose of this study was to examine the lived experiences of a 54-year-old man with early-onset Alzheimer's disease and his family (wife, sister, and mother) to understand the effects on the family unit.
Simulations hold great promise for medical education, but not all simulations are effective, and reviews of simulation-based medical education research indicate that most evaluations of the effectiveness of medical simulations have not been of sufficient technical quality to produce trustworthy results. This article discusses issues associated with the technical quality of evaluations and methods for achieving it in evaluations of the effectiveness of medical simulations. It begins with a discussion of the criteria for technical quality, and then discusses measures available for evaluating medical simulation, approaches to scoring simulation performance, and methodological approaches.
