Healthcare is a major producer of greenhouse gasses, air pollution and waste. In addition, it uses a lot of raw materials and energy.

Injection of agitated saline to detect recirculation with transthoracic echocardiography during venovenous extracorporeal oxygenation: A pilot study.

Purpose: We assessed the security and efficiency of intravenously injected agitated saline in conjunction with transthoracic echocardiography to identify recirculation in patients supported with a venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV ECMO) device.

Materials And Methods: We injected agitated saline 4 consecutive times separated by an interval of 5 minutes in 2 patients supported by VV ECMO. In both patients, the drainage cannula was placed in the left femoral vein, and the return cannula was placed in the right internal jugular vein.

The effect of radiotherapy on dental hard tissue--a systematic review.

Introduction: Decay of teeth, erosion and disintegration of hard dental tissue are a clinically often seen side effect after radiotherapy for tumours in the head and neck region. To investigate if these side effects are due to structural changes in dental hard tissues, the current literature was searched. It can influence the quality of life gravely.

The prognostic value of the EEG in asphyxiated newborns.

Peripartal asphyxia is still one of the most important factors of neonatal morbidity and mortality and accounts for the majority of non-progressive neurological deficits seen in children. A set of evaluations that may consistently predict outcome in this patient population would be valuable. The purpose of the present retrospective study was to investigate the prognostic value of the early neonatal EEG and Sarnat scoring obtained in 23 asphyxiated term newborns.
