153 women with advanced breast cancer were randomly allocated for treatment with SMF [prednimustine (Sterecyt) + methotrexate + 5-fluorouracil, 83 patients] or CMF (cyclophosphamide+methotrexate+5-fluorouracil, 70 patients). Prednimustine was administered orally 100 mg/m2 daily, for 5 days, and cyclophosphamide was administered orally 100 mg/m2, for 14 days, each, every 4 weeks. Methotrexate was given at a dose of 40 mg/m2 and 5-fluorouracil at 600 mg/m2 on day 1 and 8, every 4 weeks.

This paper is a retrospective review of the treatment of carcinoma of the penis with radiotherapy alone over a 30-year period from 1960-1990 at The Royal London Hospital. During that time, 44 patients aged 31-85 years (mean 63) underwent treatment in our department, all of whom had histologically proven squamous carcinoma. Patients initially treated by surgery and those treated with combined surgery and radiotherapy were excluded from analysis.

There was no significant difference in either group. The records of 69 patients who had undergone post-radiation salvage cystectomy were reviewed, looking specifically at surgical complications.
