Background: Empagliflozin administered after acute myocardial infarction proofed to improve cardiometabolic parameters and biomarkers, but the impact on cardiac function is still largely unknown. The aim of this post-hoc echocardiographic sub-analysis of the EMMY trial was to provide in-depth echocardiographic analysis on the effects of empagliflozin versus placebo on standard and novel echocardiographic structural and functional parameters after acute myocardial infarction.
Methods: In this post-hoc analysis of the EMMY trial a subset of 313 patients (157 empagliflozin vs.
Background: About half of patients with severe aortic stenosis present with concomitant coronary artery disease. The optimal timing of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in patients with severe aortic stenosis and concomitant coronary artery disease remains unknown.
Study Design: The TAVI PCI trial is a prospective, international, multicenter, randomized, 2-arm, open-label study planning to enroll a total of 986 patients.
Introduction: Percutaneous coronary intervention is a well-established revascularization strategy for patients with coronary artery disease. Recent technical advances such as radial access, third generation drug-eluting stents and highly effective antiplatelet therapy have substantially improved the safety profile of coronary procedures. Despite several practice guidelines and a clear patient preference of early hospital discharge, the percentage of coronary procedures performed in an outpatient setting in Austria remains low, mostly due to safety concerns.

The safety and feasibility of performing these procedures on a same-day discharge basis for selected patients has been studied in a large number of mostly nonrandomized trials. An up to date literature review should focus on trials with radial access, representing the current standard for coronary procedures in Austria and other European countries.

We aimed to assess the impact of patient-reported frailty on the treatment and prognosis of elderly early survivors of non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS).
Methods: Frailty data were obtained from two prospective trials, POPular Age and the POPular Age Registry, which both assessed elderly NSTE-ACS patients.
