In today's digital age, there is an increasing demand for integrated wireless and wired technologies; however, there is a difficulty in achieving secure and reliable communications within buildings and facilities. This paper presents a proposal for maintaining the infrastructure while expanding it to implement communication technologies with high transmission and reception speeds and high levels of data confidentiality to enhance the operational efficiency of organizations. Three main technologies have emerged as promising solutions for this purpose: Wi-Fi, Li-Fi, and BPL.

Background Watchful waiting and non-operative management of patients with complete clinical response to neoadjuvant treatment in locally advanced rectal cancers is an emerging practice now, especially in patients whose surgery would require permanent stoma. Methodology This is a retrospective study of patients presenting to the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, Egypt from January 2005 to December 2019 with pathologically proven locally advanced rectal cancer who had a complete clinical response after neoadjuvant treatment. Patients who underwent surgery after achieving complete clinical response and patients who were kept under watchful waiting were compared in terms of overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), metastasis-free survival (MFS), and local recurrence-free survival (LRFS).

Cisplatin remains the unchallenged standard therapy for NSCLC. However, it is not completely curative due to drug resistance and oxidative stress-induced toxicity. Drug resistance is linked to overexpression of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and aberrant calcium signalling.

A novel photoprobe, Tb-acetylacetone (Tb-ACAC) doped within a modified epoxy cellulose polymer immobilized with CA-125 monoclonal antibody, offers an accurate and highly selective method for early ovarian cancer (OC) diagnosis by detecting cancer antigen 125 (CA-125) in serum samples. This approach leverages quenching of the Tb-ACAC luminescence upon binding to CA-125. Characterization of the photoprobe film through UV-vis and fluorescence measurements confirmed the presence of Tb-ACAC within the polymer matrix.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the use of Garden cress seed extract (GRCE) in sodium alginate (SALG) films for bio-based food packaging, testing various concentrations (1%, 3%, and 5%) to assess their impact.
  • - GRCE is rich in phenolic compounds, notably gallic and chlorogenic acids, leading to significant increases in total phenolic content and antioxidant activities in the SALG films with higher GRCE concentrations.
  • - The incorporation of GRCE improved physical properties of the films, reduced water vapor permeability, and showed effectiveness in lowering the peroxide value of stored sunflower oil, indicating its potential as a functional food packaging material.
