The cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway plays an important role in controlling inflammation. This study investigated the effects of varenicline, an α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) agonist, on inflammatory cytokine levels, cell proliferation, and migration rates in a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation model in RAW 264.7 murine macrophage cell lines.

Autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved cellular process in which components of the cytoplasm are delivered to lysosomes for degradation and has been proposed to play a role in imatinib resistance in chronic myeloid leukemia cells. Chronic myeloid leukemia is a clonal myeloproliferative disorder arising from the neoplastic transformation of the hematopoietic stem cell. We used a Bcr-Abl-independent and imatinib-resistant K562 subpopulation (K562-IR) that we generated earlier in our laboratory for this study.

Background: Adalimumab (ADA) is a potent inhibitor of tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α). ADA treatment suppresses proinflammatory cytokines, leading to a decrease or inhibition of the inflammatory process.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the possible protective effects of ADA on oxidative stress and cellular damage on rat kidney tissue after ischemia/reperfusion (I/R).
